Resident getter fan here! I usually don’t leave long responses in reblogs but since tumblr comments have a word limit I’ll move my opinion regarding the getter girls here. I’ll keep it spoiler free as possible but I’ll at least bring up 3 main ones, since I’ll be talking about the ovas since that’s where most people tend to lean to. (The toei shows are kinda mixed and fairly long, though if you’ve seen any longer Gundams you should be fine but note they’re a bit kid friendly and episodic so they don’t have a proper story structure unlike the ovas)

Regarding Sho: She sadly doesn’t appear in too many animes, her most major appearance you saw was what you watched, SVN. (She was also in a toei show but see above with what I said, it was also not fully subbed even if it’s being in process of it. Also they changed her design a bit) If you want a full fleshed out Sho experience you’ll have to read the manga which most people recommend anyways and you’ll have to do if you wanna watch getter arc, since it’s the one anime that’s fully manga accurate. Sho also appears there but her role is very minor. That said despite her limited anime appearances most people say she’s the best female in the manga because all the other ones are kinda side characters sadly.

Kei: I’m gonna assume you haven’t watched Armageddon or played a SRW with Arma despite the screencap so let me tell you about my beloved green haired girl.

In the manga she is just a side character so arma rectify her by making her apart of the Go team. The only downside to this is it does rob Sho of screentime-Sho is also there in arma but as a background cameo-but I don’t hold it against Kei as she’s lovely. She is an independent woman who WILL kick your ass but still has a soft side. She does not appear until ep 4 but to me is more of the central protag of the show then Ryoma if you can believe, despite being the getter 2 pilot and no one ever talking about her lol. She is generally great and it’s a shame arma is the only canon to use her but I think you’ll enjoy her and the go team she’s apart of even if they’re FAR different from the shin vs neo ones. (They still use Go and Gai but they’re- different. Won’t spoil it though)

Lastly, Michiru: This one talking about new aka the one focusing primarily on OG team. This last one is a supporting character but I’m mentioning her anyways for some general context, also I really like her. (Also she’s not canonically a lesbian sadly but this is the only pic of her I have on speed dial😭)

Michiru in the series tends to be the character who I’ve felt been done really dirty. In the manga she quite literally *exists* and arma, as much as I love it and think Kei makes up for it, Michiru is kinda used as the fridged character. (I won’t elaborate for spoilers but if you know what fridged means, you know) However, New getter handles her fairly well! While she doesn’t get to pilot the getter and is absent for a few episodes, she provides a strong supporting character. She’s basically more of the boys professor than her dad in a way, but she’s still doing her own thing. She’s also interesting in the sense most Michirus are characterized as nice but she’s a total bitch LMAO yet I love it. She’s tired of being around so many men and I cannot blame her given the OG getter team can get to be a bit much.

These are the main examples I can think of, the only thing I didn’t mention was arma also has some nice side female characters but Kei is the primary one and also there is a spin off manga with female pilots- but sadly it’s not translated so rip.

Overall compared to other series I think getter has the female rep decently but despite Sho not getting a proper arc in the animes I think the animes do it better then the manga in this regard. But all 5 arcs of the manga and all 3 ovas are definitely worth checking out if you wanna immerse yourself fully in getter, sorry for the large infodump though LOL.

Also PS: this has nothing to do with the girl aspect but one of the pilots you mentioned in the OG team pic is wrong, in that pic Musashi isn’t there but rather Benkei- but also it’s easy to mix them up bc Benkei only actually existed to replace Musashi LMAO (it gets even funnier bc in new getter they just- merge both of them into a completely new character named Benkei Musashibo who’s also based off of a legendary monk warrior. Getter is so silly with how it’s adapts its characters)

So, since getting into mecha more than I used to (thanks again Witch from Mercury), I've learned that the trio of anime dudes grinning like unhinged gargoyles are the OG Getter Robo team (Hayato, Musashi, and Ryoma, pictured below).

I can see why it's been popular for memes and fan art (there's even one featuring Miorine Rembran, Suletta Mercury, and Chuatury Panlunch in these poses), but having just watched Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo, I'd like to voice my appreciation of the Go Team's version in the first picture, being both a callback to their predecessors while also distinguished from them.

(I particularly like that, while I don't know yet know how well Getter Robo in general handles its female cast, at the very least Sho Tachibana's expression here is just as unhinged as her male peers' [Gai Daido and Go Ichimonji], and while I appreciate that's not a very high bar to clear, it's still better than too many media ever do).

The man at the Silk Flower shop tells you not to contribute. Zhongli scolds him with venom in his tone. He mentions the Creator again. You really need to start collecting more books everytime you find one.

If the man recognizes his mistake, he apologizes and says you can contribute. Zhongli is happy.

Well, when you pass by the store next time, you'll find a different NPC, selling Silk Flowers with no idea of how Bolai is.

Dude has abandonment issues galore with his birth family abandoning him and the adopted family either dying or trying to kill him because he told them about his backstory at the wrong time. Do you really think that this fucker, once opening his heart out to you, would constantly betray your trust. Dude wouldn't even do anything that could lead to you leaving him/trying to kill him. Dude would rather die a million times over then think of betraying the trust of a person who actively puts their trust into him,,,,

What if,,,,, what if the Reader had the most shittiest sense of humour ever

Like, it's almost sad. They laugh at the most dumbest shit. The acolytes are in tears but they don't want to disrespect the Divine One so they keep their mouths shut.

Some acolytes actually trust Y/N that much. They genuinely think this shit ass jokes are the bomb because 'the creator likes them'. Saying that the jokes are shit in their presence warrants retribution. Usually they would find these jokes fucking awful but it's the creator saying them so of course they're okay (cough cough Zhongli cough cough Ei)

Reader thinks that Cyno's jokes are a godsend. Cyno makes a mental note to make even more jokes if it makes the Creator happy. Reader and Cyno do stand up comedy and it goes as well as you think it would. The attendees are simultaneously overjoyed at seeing the Creator in person while also desiring nothing more then the sweet sweet taste of death

The cliffs at Liyue and Dragonspine are far easier to climb then they were before. The height either appears to be shortened, or there's more slopes. It making climbing far less tedious so you don't mind,,,,

The Hilichurls are seen in their dancing animation more often. Zhongli mentions that he made another deal with the Tsaritsa to get his Gnosis back for a bit. Every five seconds, you're being notified because someone is sending 10M Mora in your mail. You think it's some fancy lore,,,

I reblogged this on accident twice trying to respond bc I’m stupid 💀 but yeah I’m glad you didn’t mind the ramble!

honestly I advise anime wise to watch shin vs neo and new next. I haven’t personally watched the toei show but 74 and G are kinda episodic given they’re more aimed at kid so they aren’t tonally like arma, the other ovas or the manga. Plus they’re longer compared to SVN and new and Idk if you’re okay with long anime but I personally can’t do them lol. (Reason I have not watched a gundam still even though I need too)

But either way I hope you enjoy it wherever and whenever you resume because this whole series is quiet the trip!

Lord Alfred and Drummond (Victoria)

 I love surprise ships that come out of nowhere! Well, out of nowhere for me, when I don’t expect it from a certain show, or from a show I’ve been watching for a while. I’ve been meaning to write about this pairing for a couple of months, but been super busy with work. I’m now just going to blurt it all out in one go.

I love this couple. To the point where my interest in the rest of the show is waning, because I just want to get back to scenes with this pairing.

During the first season of Victoria, I was pretty much rooting for Victoria/Melbourne. I know the show plays a little fast and loose with the facts of history (which I’m fine with and more on that later), but even I knew that Albert marrying the Queen was too set in stone to change. I have teaspoons from the V&A Museum. There’s no going back from that!  Victoria and Albert isn’t a pairing I hate at all, and Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes are both gorgeous and bring something special to their respective roles. It’s not something I particularly root for, but it’s not something I roll my eyes at either.

 Anyway, fast forward to season two. Victoria’s there bouncing out sprogs, Albert’s moodily pouting around like a cross between Heathcliff and grumpy cat, we’ve still got a lot of our supporting characters from ‘downstairs’ and they’ve shipped in Dame Diana Rigg to provide the Maggie Smith effect. Lovely. I can spend my Sunday nights being relatively entertained and relaxing in awe at the beautiful scenery, while curled up in front of the telly.
